About The Author
Nuno Albuquerque was a Former addiction counsellor at UKAT, drawing on over 18 years of experience in the addiction field, both in the UK and abroad. Throughout his time at UKAT, he provided invaluable clinical and managerial insights, continually refining his skills through further education and a dedicated focus on strategies that facilitate and uphold meaningful change in individuals. He left UKAT in 2023.
Nuno Albuquerque was an addiction counsellor at UKAT, bringing over 18 years of experience in the field of addiction both in the UK and internationally. During his time with UKAT, he contributed a wealth of clinical and managerial expertise, continuously enhanced by his ongoing studies and interest in techniques that best support and sustain change in individuals.

Throughout his career, Nuno developed a well-deserved professional reputation. He became a member of FDAP (Federation of Drug & Alcohol Professionals) in 2004, and in 2008, he obtained membership with the Certified Coaches Federation. In 2018, he earned certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counsellor by the UK Professional Certification Board of Alcohol and Drug Counsellors (IC&RC).

Before joining UKAT, Nuno worked in the education sector at an international school in Macau S.A.R., China, as the CAS Coordinator/School Counsellor, where he supported students in graduating from the International Baccalaureate programme. To perform as a CAS Coordinator, he attended training in Kuala Lumpur with IB Asia-Pacific. This was his second role in education, after serving as a Practice Educator for Oxford Brookes University in the UK.

Nuno also regularly attended prestigious conferences, such as iCAAD and Interventions Plus, to stay current with behavioural advancements. He had been attending UKESAD since 2007. Although he is no longer part of UKAT, his impact during his time with us remains significant.
